Marc Smith

   Marc began his career by attending the Southern Tier Law Enforcement Academy in 1993.  After a short time with the Nunda Police Department, In 1995 Marc started at Steuben County Sheriff’s Office.  There he was able to receive addition training in firearms and become a NYS certified Firearms Instructor.  Marc continued to enhance his firearms training through his time on SWAT, where he was a team leader for 17 years and commander of the TEAM for 2 years and has received training in SWAT operations and hostage recovery. Throughout his career he has continued his education in firearms training to include Reality Based Training Instructor, Justification in the use of Force Instructor...only to name a few. Marc has experience in teaching firearms at the Southern Tier Law Enforcement Academy and is currently in the Lead Firearms Instructor at the Alfred State Police Academy. Along with teaching new recruits, Marc also trains Police Officers to be Firearms Instructors.  

Marc has a passion for instructing and is eager to convey his knowledge and experience on to the public.
